How do I sell my car or van with Cash4Cars?2023-04-17T14:04:18+00:00

To start selling your car or van, simply enter your vehicle registration on our homepage. After providing some basic information about your vehicle and yourself, we’ll provide you with a complimentary valuation. If you’re content with the offer, we’ll schedule a free home inspection at a time that is suitable for you. After inspecting your car or van and validating the price, we’ll make an instant payment.

Do I require ID when selling with Cash4Cars?2023-04-17T18:56:04+00:00

When we arrive at the vehicle’s registered address and meet with the registered keeper we need to see the following documents:

  • If the valuation is under £10,000 we need to see 1 form of ID or proof of address
  • If the valuation is over £10,000 we need to see 3 forms of ID or proof of address

This can be

– Original photo ID (passport or driving licence)
– Proof of address dated within the last 3 months (utility bill, council tax bill)

How long do I need to have owned my vehicle before selling it?2023-04-17T18:58:21+00:00

In order for us to purchase your vehicle, you must have been the rightful owner or registered keeper for at least 3 months prior to the appraisal. This requirement ensures that the V5C document has been under your name for a minimum of 3 months, and thus validates your legal authority to sell the vehicle to us.

How do I receive payment for my sold vehicle?2023-04-17T19:00:28+00:00

At the point of selling your vehicle to us, you can expect to receive immediate payment through bank transfer. To provide you with assurance, our vehicle purchaser will remain with you until the payment has been successfully processed.

How long do valuations last?2023-04-17T19:06:29+00:00

Our system stores valuations for five days, allowing you ample time to determine if you wish to proceed with booking an appointment. During the appointment, one of our vehicle purchasing team members will assess whether your car meets the necessary criteria for the offer.

Are online valuations the same as the final offer?2023-04-17T19:17:42+00:00

The initial online valuation is based on the information you provide and our computer database. However, the final offer made during an in-person inspection may differ, as we thoroughly examine the vehicle’s physical condition and documentation. It’s essential to keep in mind that several factors can impact a car’s valuation, such as its depreciation over time.

I have a private number plate, can I still sell?2023-04-18T10:59:51+00:00

Selling your vehicle with a private plate is certainly possible. However, if you would like to retain your private plate, kindly contact the DVLA and request to swap it back to the original number plate. We suggest initiating this process a few weeks before selling your car to us to allow ample time for the transfer.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to keep the private plate, we are more than happy to purchase your vehicle with the existing private plate.

Can I still sell if the owner is deceased?2023-04-18T11:01:53+00:00

Selling a car after the owner has passed away can be a challenging task, and we understand that. We aim to make the process as stress-free as possible during this difficult time.

Once you have accepted the online valuation for the vehicle, a member of our team will contact you to arrange an appointment for a vehicle inspection. During this call, we will inquire about the vehicle’s ownership, and you should inform us that the owner is deceased.

We will then arrange a suitable appointment time and location, and request that you bring the following documents to the inspection:

• The death certificate of the vehicle owner.
• Legal proof of your entitlement to sell the vehicle on behalf of the deceased’s Estate. This may be included in the will where you are named, or in a solicitor’s letter indicating your entitlement to deal with the proceeds of the Estate. You may be designated as an executor of the will, or there may be other legal proofs that establish your entitlement to sell the vehicle. If there is more than one executor of the will, all named executors must be present at the time of sale before any agreed payment is made. All named executors will be required to provide personal identification proof.
